Safe and Professional Tree Removal Services
When a tree becomes a hazard, you need someone you can trust to take it down safely. The Friendly Arborist specializes in high-risk removals across Simcoe County and Muskoka.
Protecting Your Property Starts With the Right Team
Sometimes a tree has to come down because it’s become a hazard. Other times, you just need it gone. Maybe because it’s shading out your garden, crowding the yard, or you’ve got plans for the space. Whatever the reason, we can help.
At The Friendly Arborist, we handle everything from high-risk removals close to your home to straightforward jobs in open areas. Whatever the reason, we’ll take it down safely, clean everything up, and leave your yard better than we found it.
Why It Matters
Why Professional Removal is the Safest Choice
Removing a tree, especially one in a tight spot, is a complex job that requires more than just a chainsaw. It’s about controlling the environment and ensuring every piece falls exactly where it’s supposed to.
High-Risk Expertise
We specialize in removing trees close to houses. We use specialized rigging and lowering techniques to move heavy wood safely away from your structures.
Property Protection
Our team takes extra care to protect your lawn, gardens, and underground utilities while we work.
Complete Cleanup
A felled tree creates a lot of debris, which is why we offer full wood and site cleanup so your yard looks better than when we arrived. (Want to keep the wood for yourself? We do that too.)
How We Work
Our Tree Removal Process
Every removal starts with a detailed plan. We don’t believe in “winging it.” Before we start the saws, we assess the lean of the tree, the health of the wood, and the safest “drop zone” for the debris.
We use a combination of climbing, bucket trucks, and advanced rigging to take trees down in sections when space is limited. This piece-by-piece approach is the gold standard for residential tree work. It allows us to work in small backyards or near delicate landscaping. Once we get the tree on the ground, we assist with stump grinding or wood removal to leave you with a clean slate.
We identify issues like co-dominant stems (V-shaped trunks growing too close) that could cause the tree to split, as well as dead limbs or branches rubbing together. By fixing these problems early, we ensure your tree stays stable and keeps its natural shape as it matures.
Wood Chipping
We turn branches into mulch on-site.
Lawn Protection
We use mats to keep our equipment from rutting your grass.
Site Raking
We leave your property cleaner than we found it.
Cut Logs
We cut any wood you want to keep into manageable sizes.
STUMP GRINDING
We work with a local specialist to grind stumps below ground level.
Know The Signs
8 Signs It May Be Time to Remove a Tree
Not every sick tree needs to come down. As arborists, we always look for ways to save a tree first. But sometimes removal becomes a priority when the tree’s structure has deteriorated beyond repair. We look for specific signs that indicate a tree is or could become dangerous:
Internal Decay
If the trunk is hollow or has large fungal growths at the base, the tree may no longer be able to support its own weight.
Dead Standing Trees
A dead tree becomes more brittle and unpredictable every day it stays standing. Removing it early is much safer and more affordable than waiting for it to fall.
Bark Damage
Large sections of peeling bark or deep vertical cracks in the main trunk are a warning sign that the wood underneath is likely to rot or snap.
Signs of Bug Activity
Tiny round holes in the trunk or sawdust-like powder at the base are signs of wood-boring insects tunneling through the heart of your tree.
Root Issues
Trees with exposed, rotting roots or those that have started to lift the soil are at high risk of blowing over in a storm.
Die Back
If the top of your tree or outer branch tips are losing leaves and turning brittle, the root system can no longer push nutrients all the way up.
Encroaching Growth
Sometimes a healthy tree simply grows too close to a foundation, home or power lines, creating a long-term hazard that pruning can't fix.
Impacting Nearby Trees
A fast-growing or invasive tree can choke out your entire landscape, and removing the problem tree is sometimes the only way to save the rest.

FAQ
Common Questions About Tree Removal
Not sure what to expect? Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.
How do I know if my tree needs to be removed or just trimmed?
Not every sick or damaged tree needs to come down. We always look for ways to save a tree first. If the structure is compromised beyond repair, the roots are failing, or the tree poses a clear risk to your home or family, removal becomes the safer option. We’ll give you an honest assessment and never recommend removal unless it’s truly necessary.
How do you remove a tree safely near a house or structure?
We use a piece-by-piece approach, taking the tree down in sections using climbing, bucket trucks, and professional rigging. This gives us complete control over where each piece lands, which is especially important in tight spaces near your home, garage, or garden.
Do you remove the stump too?
Stump grinding is available as an add-on service. Once the tree is down we can grind the stump down below ground level, leaving you with a clean slate. Just let us know when you book and we’ll include it in your quote.
What do you do with the wood and debris?
We offer full site cleanup including wood chipping and debris removal. If you’d like to keep the logs for firewood or the chips for mulch, just let us know and we’ll set them aside for you.
How quickly can you come out for a dangerous tree?
For emergency situations we prioritize our response as quickly as possible. If a tree is actively threatening your home or blocking access to your property, call us directly and we’ll get out to you as soon as we can.
